Sweden v England May 1956

0 10

Just a week after beating Brazil 4-2, England travel to Stockholm to play Sweden. The game itself is a disappointing end-of-season goalless draw, but what makes this item so special are the shots prior to the match taking place (all of which are mute). We see the players boarding the plane, receiving their in-flight meal, travelling around Stockholm and training at the ground. This includes excellent close-up shots of the eleven players selected for the game and some great footage of 19 year old Duncan Edwards. England: Matthews (Coventry), Hall (Birmingham), Byrne (Man Utd), Clayton (Blackburn), Wright (Wolves), Edwards (Man Utd), Berry (Man Utd), Atyeo (Bristol City), Taylor (Man Utd), Haynes (Fulham), Grainger (Sheff Utd).
