Andy Robertson suffers worrying injury as Liverpool fans curse international break

Andy Robertson has suffered a worrying looking injury while playing for Scotland.

Liverpool ace Robertson was forced off before half-time of Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifier in Spain with a shoulder injury. And Reds fans were left less than impressed with the news.

The full-back was cleaned out by Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon and had to be taken off with his arm wrapped in his shirt like a makeshift sling.

“We are on the first round of international games and it looks like Andy Robertson is out for a while ffs,” said one Liverpool fan on social media. While another bluntly put: “F*** internationals Andy Robertson looks like dislocated shoulder f*** off.”

Scotland have performed well in Euro qualifiers so far and face a trip to France for their next clash on Tuesday.

Former Scotland winger Pat Nevin said of Robertson’s injury: “If the goalkeeper gets the ball, he can take everything else with him and Unai Simon has done just that. Andy Robertson took a big, big hit there.”

Robertson has played all eight Premier League games for Liverpool this season, though hasn’t been at his influential best.

The former Hull City star has scored once, though is yet to provide an assist for a Reds goal.

Though Liverpool youngster Ben Doak has praised Robertson for keeping him grounded with the 21-year-old having made eight first-team appearances for Liverpool since his move from Celtic last year.

Sky Sports is bringing you 500 live football games to watch, as well access to Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA and more across eight dedicated channels. Sky Sports is the only way to watch all the action this year.

“He’s done everything in the game,” Doak said of Robertson. “He’s won everything. He keeps me grounded.

“I was with them [the first team] a little bit last season, but now I’m properly training with them every day and just trying to learn from them all because some of them are the best in the world.”

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson Suffers Shoulder Injury On International Duty

Liverpool could be without Andy Robertson for a significant period of time after the left-back suffered an injury to his right shoulder while on international duty.

Scotland captain Robertson was clattered into by Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon during Thursday’s Euro 2024 qualifier in Seville.

No foul was given against Simon as Robertson had been offside.

The 29-year-old appeared to be in some pain as he walked off the pitch with the help of a member of medical staff.

If Robertson has dislocated his shoulder then he could be out of action for around six to 12 weeks.

His injury will likely result in more game time for Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas, 27.

Robertson has started all eight of Liverpool’s EPL matches so far this season, while Tsimikas has been predominantly used in the EFL Cup and Europa League.
